Luss is a very picturesque, small village, right on the shores of Loch Lomond and filled with pretty little rose covered cottages.  It’s an ideal place to visit for half a day or so as there are plenty of water sports and activities available such as paddle boarding, boat hire, speed boat trips etc. You can also stroll along the pier and beach or stop at the local shops and cafes.

Luss is easily accessible by car and they have a large pay & display car park right next to the beach.  There are also trains that run into Helensburgh, Alexandria and Balloch and a bus service on to Luss from these towns.

Things to do

Luss has plenty of activities to do; being based right on the waters of Loch Lomond they have many boat cruises around the Loch and speedboat tours which are great fun! My personal favourite are the water sports that you can do. Loch Lomond Leisure offer lots of different activities such as; Paddle boarding, Wakeboarding, Kayaking and a lot more. I highly recommend using this company if you want to do any water activities in Luss – the staff are very helpful in getting you on your way. I have been paddle boarding twice and it’s great fun hopping between all the island on the Loch. However, you definitely need to find a day where it is not windy otherwise you won’t get very far!

Unfortunately, as always in the west coast of Scotland, the weather can be unpredictable even during the summer.  But whatever the weather, the Loch still looks amazing and you can take a very short walk down the pier and look at the stunning views of Ben Lomond.

On a good warm day, the beach can get extremely busy but it great for a paddle or swim in the cold Loch to cool you off!
